How you can help
Paws for Kids relies heavily on voluntary donations from the public. The money is used not only to finance the Safe Haven project, including the pet fostering service, but also to fund vital ongoing education and advice to the public, professionals and other charitable organisations. Paws for Kids works to keep people up to date with current issues surrounding domestic violence, and how this affects all the members of a family – through publicity leaflets, lectures and interviews.
All our projects and activities are operated by a dedicated team of both paid workers and volunteers. But they cannot do their work without your help. There are several ways that you can support Paws for Kids.
Personal Donation
Gifts of money, no matter how big or how small, regular or one-off, are precious for the continuation of our service. Just think,
For £10.00 we can treat a pet for fleas and worms
For £25.00 we can have a pet vaccinated
For £60.00 we can have a pet neutered…
These are just some of the basic expenses that Paws for Kids pay.
There are many ways that you can help Paws for Kids and the following pages show the range of activities that you can get involved in. Remember, any contribution you can make to Paws for Kids supports a better future for a family in need of “Safe Haven”.
Donate

Gift Aid
Anyone who is a UK tax payer can help us benefit even more from their generosity by agreeing to “Gift Aid” their donations. This enables us to claim an extra 28p from every single £1.00 that you donate. Just simply ensure that you send us a Gift Aid declaration when you first make a donation.
Be a Friend
Paws for Kids Friends scheme - supporters can donate £10.00 per year and in return receive our quarterly “Paw Prints” newsletter. This gives information on the work of the charity and provides up-to-date news on Domestic Violence and Animal Welfare issues as well as giving access and invitations to special events.
Corporate Giving
Payroll Giving – giving from your pay is tax-free. What’s more the Government now adds 10% to every gift made. For instance, if you pledge £10.00 it will only cost you £7.80 but Paws for Kids will get £11.00 thanks to the taxman not taking his share.

Company Support
Make Paws for Kids your company’s Charity of the Year. Organising a fundraising event at work can be fun, and gives you the opportunity to learn new skills as well as raise the profile of your company in the local community.
Gifts in Kind
Gifts in Kind are always needed by Paws for Kids for its work and as prizes for raffles and competitions.
Legacies
Anyone who is over 18 can make a Will. Unfortunately, many people do not, in which case the law decides how the estate is to be distributed. Often, if there is no will and the deceased has no living relatives, the estate goes to the Crown.
Charitable bequests are of enormous importance to the work of the Charity. Such bequests can also reduce your Inheritance Tax liability. Ask your solicitor for further guidance on this.
The following wording for a bequest to Paws for Kids may be helpful if you wish to go straight to your solicitor.
‘I give all (or a ….% share of) the residue of my estate to Paws for Kids (Registered Charity No. 1084861 at PO. Box 329 BoltonBL6 7WA) for its general charitable purposes and I direct that the receipt of the Treasurer or duly authorised officer shall be a valid and appropriate form of discharge’.
Donations in lieu of flowers at a funeral are very much appreciated. Funeral Directors are usually happy to organise the collection of contributions and forward them to us. The donations will be spent helping children and their animals to live better, safer lives and we will send a personal ‘thank you’ to the next of kin.
“I was a victim of domestic violence for 7 years, as were my children. We have always had pets they were and still are a part of our family”.
